To continue the celebration of Free The Bid’s two-year anniversary in September, it’s that time again; welcome to the 4th edition of our Here’s The Work newsletter!
This round-up, along with our weekly interviews and daily social media updates, is our way of shining a bright spotlight on the talented women directors with profiles in our database. Up until now, these newsletters have been sent out quarterly. However, due to an overwhelming demand, we’ve decided to give the people what they want: starting in January 2019, our Here’s The Work round-ups will be sent out on a MONTHLY basis!

The work included in this newsletter includes commercials, branded content, digital content, music videos, short films, feature films, documentaries, TV episodes, miniseries episodes, and Innovation/VR projects. We have also included a section on work created by Free The Bid directors for International Day of The Girl (October 11th), and a section shouting out the achievements of the Free The Bid directors who took home awards at the recent 2018 Kinsale Sharks and Clios Awards. INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL
Thursday, October 11th, was International Day Of The Girl. As described by the United Nations, “the day aims to highlight and address the needs and challenges girls face, while promoting girls’ empowerment and the fulfillment of their human rights.” Free The Bid directors stepped up to bring attention to this crucial global issue, creating work that addresses the challenges faced by girls worldwide through a variety of lenses. From shining a spotlight on the Dream Gap that keeps girls from realizing their full potential, to a chilling look at the survivors of Boko Haram, women directors harnessed their creativity toward creating a better world for the next generation. We were proud to see that women directors were awarded Gold, Silver, and Bronze prizes at both this year’s Kinsale Sharks (September 2018) and Clios Awards (October 2018). While we always wish for greater representation of the talented women from our database, it’s nice to see that when their work is entered into competition, it stacks up!
