Folks, it has been a long time coming but the second edition of the Impact Field Guide is now live having been lovingly updated over 6 months by Impact Strategist Sahar Driver.

In this updated version, we include a new chapter on working with short form films, updates on global distribution, considerations around risk and safety for film subjects, reflections on filmmaking as an emancipatory practice and new examples of innovative film campaigns from every continent.

The Impact Field Guide also contains one of the largest collections of film impact case studies in one place—73 gorgeous films with big stories to tell, drawn from our broad family of documentary film makers & impact producers, community organizers, academics, broadcasters, distributors, cultural curators and many more partners from all over the world.

The new version is available in English online at Right now our sisters at Ambulante are working on the new Spanish edition, DocSP in Brazil on the Portuguese. And with requests for French, Arabic and Cantonese from the community, any help would be much appreciated to keep the guide as accessible as possible, if you would like to help translate.

This is a free resource by the community for the community. And when we say take it, teach it, share it—we really mean it. Please just credit where it’s due and let us know how it has been useful.
