We are bringing you a cinematography master class with Bruce Francis Cole and Kira Kelly. These two prolific DPs are taking over the FREE THE WORK Instagram for an IG live that will teach you how to cultivate your craft and make the most of your come-up. If you are an emerging DP wanting to learn from some of the best in the game or just curious about the process of shooting a film, this is your moment!

Bruce Francis Cole, an alumnus of the North Carolina School of the Arts and the American Film Institute, comes to cinematography from a fine art background, having studied painting before moving into visual storytelling. Bruce has worked in film for over twenty years and his unique background informs the way he sees the relationship between color, light, and composition. As a DP, Bruce has lensed the work of renowned musicians, national commercials, and numerous independent features including “Jinn” which premiered at SXSW and was distributed by MGM, “Solace,” and “Farewell Amour,” which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2020. Bruce served as cinematographer for Bounce Network’s “Saint and Seasons” for Season 3. Currently, Bruce serves as a cinematographer on Ava DuVernay’s “Queen Sugar.”

Director of Photography Kira Kelly is an Emmy nominated cinematographer currently shooting FX’s “Y The Last Man,” the series based on the legendary graphic novel of the same name. Her most recent release is the hit Netflix limited series, “Self Made: Inspired by the Life of Madam CJ Walker” starring Octavia Spencer. Additionally, her work was Emmy nominated for Outstanding Cinematography For A Nonfiction Program for Netflix’s documentary “13th,” directed and produced by Ava DuVernay. It earned a nomination for Best Documentary Feature at the 2017 Oscars and won BAFTA and Peabody Awards for Documentary.
